Meet the Staff
Shawn is from Wichita Falls, Texas and he attended Burkburnett High School where he graduated in 2004. He graduated with distinction from the University of Oklahoma in 2008 with his Bachelor of Science in Health Studies. Shawn received his Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in May of 2010 and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy with Evidence in Motion in 2014.
During physical therapy school, Shawn completed clinical internships with Physical Therapy Central of Newcastle, Physical Therapy Central of Oklahoma City, and Ben Hogan Sports Therapy Institute in Ft. Worth, TX. These experiences provided an excellent background in orthopedics and allowed him to work with patients with a wide variety of diagnoses and explore several treatment methods. In his final year of physical therapy school, the faculty awarded him the 2009-2010 OUHSC Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence.
Shawn has been actively involved in APTA and OPTA since 2009, and is a member of the APTA Sports Therapy Section. His areas of interest include manual therapy, evaluation/treatment of general orthopedic conditions, prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries, and spinal dysfunction. In 2014, he completed a two year APTA Sports Physical Therapy Residency program which helped him obtain his board certification as a sports clinical specialist (SCS).
Outside of the clinic, Shawn enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Matt is from San Bernardino, California and he attended Packinghouse Christian Academy where he graduated in 2009. He graduated from Southern Nazarene University in 2014 with his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. While attending Southern Nazarene University, he was a member of the baseball team and was named the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2013. Matt received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2017 from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.
During physical therapy school, Matt completed clinical internships in Scottsdale, Arizona and the Oklahoma City Area. He has volunteered at several community events including the Oklahoma City Marathon and Boston Marathon. These experiences have provided him with an excellent background in the outpatient orthopaedic and sports settings and have allowed him to work with a wide variety of patients and diagnoses. He has been an active member of the APTA since 2014 and is a member of APTA Sports Therapy Section. His professional interests include orthopaedic physical therapy, sports rehabilitation and injury prevention, spinal dysfunction, and manual therapy.
In his free time, Matt enjoys playing sports, fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He is excited to start his future with the PTC family!
Demitri Golden grew up in Owasso, Oklahoma, where she attended Owasso High School. She was involved in high school and club soccer, as well as The Pride of Owasso marching band. Graduating in 2007, she then moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to attend and graduate from Duncan Brothers School of Hair Design.
After being a hairstylist for two years, she went back to school at Oklahoma City Community College. After four years she graduated as president of her Physical Therapy Assistant class in 2014, also receiving the certificate of excellence for the Physical Therapy Assistant program. Demitri worked in Colorado as a PTA for a year after graduating with focus on the pediatric population. Demitri is an active member of the APTA and OPTA and has special interests in orthopedic injuries, sports injuries, and pediatrics.
Demitri recently bought her first house in Yukon, Oklahoma. In her downtime she enjoys reading, hiking, or doing anything with her husband and little girl.
Joel is originally from Boulder, CO. He moved to Ponca City, OK graduated from Ponca City High School. Joel went on to attend Southern Nazarene University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Physical Therapy. At SNU, he was named the Pre-PT Student of the Year and General Physics Student of the Year. Joel received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Joel completed clinical internships at Mercy I-35 Outpatient, Physical Therapy Central of Midtown OKC, the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department, and St. Anthony’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in Oklahoma City. He had the opportunity to learn from highly-skilled, experienced physical therapists during these internships, bolstering his background in outpatient orthopedic and sports settings with a diverse patient population. Joel has been an active member of both the APTA and OPTA since 2015. He is also a member of the Sports Therapy Section.
Joel’s professional interests include orthopedic physical therapy, sports rehabilitation, performance, injury prevention, and manual therapy. He plans to complete certifications in manual therapy and Trigger-Point Dry Needling, and eventually become board-certified in either orthopedics or sports.
Joel enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, family, and friends. He also enjoys all things sports, the great outdoors, biking, and lawn games. He is an avid Packer, Thunder, and Wisconsin Badger fan. Joel is excited to be a part of the PTC team!
As a native of Calumet, Oklahoma, Emily graduated from Calumet High School. She then earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Sports Science and a minor in Biology from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. While at Northwestern, she played women’s basketball. Upon graduation, she spent two years at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid at their inpatient rehabilitation center working as a rehab technician. Emily attended Murray State College where she received her Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) degree .
During PTA school, Emily completed clinical internships at Valir of Piedmont, St. Anthony’s Hospital of Shawnee, and Therapy Specialists of Oklahoma of Edmond. These experiences have provided her with an excellent background in the outpatient orthopaedic setting and have allowed her to work with a wide variety of patients and diagnoses. She has been an active member of the APTA and OPTA since 2017. Her professional interests include orthopaedic physical therapy, sports rehabilitation, and manual therapy.
In her free time, Emily enjoys traveling, working out, outdoor activities, sporting events, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends. She is very excited to be a part of the Physical Therapy Central team and see what the future brings!
