Michael DettenPT, DPT, MPH, OCS, SCS, CSCS
Dr. Detten is the Clinic Director of the Oklahoma City Southwest location.
Dr. Detten attended the University of Oklahoma where he received his Bachelor’s degree. He went on to the University of Oklahoma-Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), where he received dual degrees in Masters in Public Health-Health Administration (MPH) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). Following graduation, Dr. Detten completed his sports physical therapy residency at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, CA. While completing this elite sports residency, he served as the team physical therapist for Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, as well as working with several USC athletic organizations. Following residency, Michael served as an assistant clinical laboratory instructor at the OUHSC Doctor of Physical Therapy program. More recently, Michael worked at the Michael Johnson Performance center in McKinney, TX.
Michael has extensive training with professional and amateur athletes from Olympic, MLB, NBA, NFL, NCAA, and crossfit athletes. Michael is a board certified sports physical therapist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) and certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Michael’s treatment approaches include manual therapy, joint manipulation-mobilization, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, myofascial decompression, and biomechanical movement analysis.
Michael’s primary focus includes developing programs for the elite athlete, bridging the gaps among physical therapy, strength and conditioning, and successful return to sport. Although he has extensive Sport Medicine interest, he is also greatly experienced with and enjoys working with people of all ages for returning them to their desired level of function, whatever that may be.
