Meet the Staff
Meredith was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She attended Shawnee High School and ran varsity cross country for four years, was an All-State soccer player, and named Athlete of the Year in 2007.
Meredith attended Oklahoma Baptist University and received her B. S. of Exercise and Health Science in 2011. She then went on and completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in May of 2014, receiving the Lester B. Sabolich Award for Clinical Excellence upon graduation.
Meredith is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) with membership in the Orthopedic specialty group. She is also a member of the Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) in which she has held multiple positions in leadership. She is interested in orthopedics, neuro-rehabilitation, and spinal dysfunctions. Meredith completed a year-long residency in Manual Therapy through Evidence in Motion to enhance her ability to treat a variety of orthopedic conditions and now a Certified Manual Therapist.
Meredith is currently living in Shawnee, Oklahoma with her husband, a fellow physical therapist, and their daughter, Blair. She enjoys being active and cycling with her friends and family, gardening, and traveling. Meredith also likes to try any type of craft or art project and is frequently found on the weekends covered in paint, trying to decide how abstract “art” can really look.
James was raised in Miami, Oklahoma where he attended Miami High School, graduating in 2003. After high school, he went on to Northeastern A&M for his Associates Degree and completed his Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in 2009 from the University of Oklahoma.
James received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2011. While in school, James had a variety of clinical rotations, including a spine specialty clinic, outpatient orthopedics, and hospital-based rehabilitation.
Since graduation, James has had a range of work experiences in outpatient orthopedics, home health, and treatment in the tribal care setting. He has pursued a certification as a Therapeutic Pain Specialist through the International Spine and Pain Institute, completing his coursework in 2016. He plans to pursue a Therapeutic Pain Science Fellowship to elevate his clinical skills to further benefit his patients. James has interests in post-surgical care, chronic pain, and spinal dysfunctions.
James is a Captain in the Army National Guard and is the only physical therapist in the state of Oklahoma for this branch of the Guard since 2011. He has served as a Platoon Leader for 1.5 years, coordinating medical training for all medical personnel and patient administration. His experience through the National Guard is unique but provides alternative training in leadership and clinical skills that have benefitted his role as a supervising physical therapist as a civilian.
James is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) with memberships in the orthopedic and private practice specialty groups.
He currently lives in Shawnee, OK with his wife, Meredith, and daughter, Blair. He likes to be outdoors, exercise, spend time with his friends and family, and cheer on the Sooners and the Thunder.
Laura was raised in Choctaw, Oklahoma, where she attended Choctaw High School. She has lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma since 2012 and is excited to serve the Shawnee community. Laura grew up playing sports and focused on basketball and throwing discus in track and field for four years.
Laura attended Oklahoma Baptist University and received her B.S. in Allied Health in Rehabilitation Sciences and Kinesiology in 2016. She then went on and completed her A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant at Seminole State College in June of 2019.
Laura is a member of the APTA and the OPTA. She completed residencies in outpatient orthopedics, acute care, and pediatrics during her studies. Laura enjoyed her rotation at OU Children’s Hospital and has a desire to become certified in pediatrics and orthopedics in the future.
She enjoys spending time at home with her boyfriend and her dog. Laura participates in the M.U.D.D. volleyball tournament every year to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She also enjoys going to the gym, hanging out with friends and family, going to the lake, playing co-ed slow pitch softball, and binge-watching shows on Netflix.
Desiree was born and raised in the Midwest City area and attended Carl Albert High School. She played many sports growing up such as softball, tennis, volleyball, and basketball but her true passion was soccer. She played on a competitive travel team and for the Carl Albert Titans.
After many tedious injuries, Desiree decided to hang up the cleats and focus on her education. Desiree attended Rose State College on an academic scholarship for 2 years and received her Associates of Arts Degree. She went on to attend the University of Oklahoma (BOOMER SOONER!) and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Fitness. Lastly, Desiree completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Langston University in 2019, receiving the Most Outstanding Student award upon graduation.
Desiree has been a member of the APTA and OPTA since 2016. During Physical Therapy school, she was exposed to a variety of clinical settings such as Outpatient, Inpatient Rehab, Acute Care ICU, but her true passion lies in the Pediatric world.
Desiree currently lives in Midwest City with her husband and their fur-baby, Gunner. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, weekends at the lake, all things Harry Potter and Disney, and reading. Desiree is excited to be a member of the PT Central Family
