Our Staff: Pauls Valley Clinic

The physical therapists at Physical Therapy Central all have advanced physical therapy degrees at either the Master's or Doctorate level. This allows the therapists to provide efficient and effective treatment outcomes for the patients. Each member of the staff completes a minimum of 40 continuing education hours per year to stay at the top of their field.

Kahn earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Creighton University in 2001 with honors. In 2006, Kahn obtained his Orthopaedic Specialist Certification, which is a designation limited to less than 5% of actively practicing physical therapists. Kahn is currently a fellow in training in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy with Evidence in Motion with anticipated completion in 2013.

Kahn's areas of interest are broad but include spinal dysfunction, sports medicine, orthopaedic rehabilitation, and the applications of biomechanics and the impact of the neurological system in its approach to the rehabilitation of patients afflicted with such conditions as stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and peripheral neuropathy. With additional training in cardiovascular rehab and wound management, Kahn is considered a generalist who can manage a diverse patient population.

He is active in the OPTA and APTA. Kahn owns and operates Physical Therapy Central of Pauls Valley and is a co-owner of Physical Therapy Central of Davis.

Amanda Polk, PT, MPT

Amanda Polk earned her Master's in Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in 2009 where she was listed on the Dean's Honor Roll. In addition to her graduate work, Amanda earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Exercise Science from the University of Oklahoma in 2006 and an Associate of Science Degree in Biology in 2003. Amanda is currently a resident in training in orthopedic manual physical therapy with Evidence in Motion to obtain her Orthopedic Clinical Specialist designation, as well as complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She is the Clinic Director of Physical Therapy Central of Pauls Valley.

Amanda's areas of interest include orthopedics, manual therapy, spinal dysfunction, and sports therapy. She has received specialized training in the McKenzie method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for spinal dysfunction.

Amanda is active in the Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association as well as the American Physical Therapy Association.

Courtney Carothers, PTA

Courtney earned her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Oklahoma City Community College in 2010 with honors. Prior to the Physical Therapist Assistant program, she earned an associate's in Science from Oklahoma City Community College.

Courtney has 4 years of orthopedic physical therapy experience with Physical Therapy Central prior to her graduation from her PTA program at Oklahoma City Community College.

She has remained active in the Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association and American Physical Therapy Association.

Geoffrey Lau, PT, DPT

Geoffrey earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011 from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. During that time he became an American Red Cross Emergency Responder and served as medical staff for The UCO Endeavor Games for Physically Disabled Athletes and the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. Prior to that, Geoff completed his Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the University of Oklahoma, was on the Dean's Honor Roll, member of the Honors College, and graduated magna cum laude of the National Collegiate Scholars Honor Society in 2008.

Geoffrey's clinical affiliations provided him with a depth of knowledge in wound care, amputations, traumatic brain/spinal cord injury, strokes, and other neurological conditions across the lifespan. His interests also include sports medicine, rehabilitation and prevention of sports injuries, on-the-field athletic injury, orthopedics, manual/manipulative therapy, and sports related PT after his time treating Division I collegiate athletes at the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department Training Room. He also holds specialized training in the McKenzie method for Mechanical Diagnosis of spinal dysfunction, has special interest in research on diabetic and glycemic control, and a passion for music therapy.

His future plans include board certification in orthopedic, sports, and manual therapy specialties by the APTA.

Outside of the clinic he plays hockey in the local adult league and in traveling tournaments, enjoys soccer, cooking, and playing the violin.
