Our Staff: Midtown OKC Clinic

The physical therapists at Physical Therapy Central all have advanced physical therapy degrees at either the Master's or Doctorate level. This allows the therapists to provide efficient and effective treatment outcomes for the patients. Each member of the staff completes a minimum of 40 continuing education hours per year to stay at the top of their field.

Jamie Wyrick, PT, MPT, OCS Jamie Wyrick, PT, MPT, OCS
Board Certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy

Jamie was born and raised in Elkhart, Kansas where she attended high school and was a multiple time All-State athlete in volleyball and basketball. She went on to play division I college basketball at the University of Oklahoma where she helped the 2002 team advance to the national championship game. Jamie graduated from OU with distinction in 2003 with her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She went on to earn her Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in 2007, where she graduated with outstanding distinction.

Jamie has been actively involved in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) since 2004 and is currently a member of the women's health, orthopedic and private practice sections of the APTA. Jamie is an APTA credentialed clinical instructor and loves working with students. Jamie joined Physical Therapy Central in 2008, and in 2009 she became co-owner of the Oklahoma City clinic.

Jamie's areas of interest include post-op orthopedics rehabilitation, prevention and rehabilitation of running and sports injuries, spinal dysfunction, women's health, and manual therapy. Jamie has completed several orthopedic and manual therapy based continuing education courses and is certified in trigger point dry needling. She has also completed APTA's Level One Pre-and Postpartum Physical Therapy coursework and is working towards the Section on Women's Health CAPP certification. In 2010, Jamie became Board Certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and plans to pursue manual therapy certification or fellowship in the future.

Outside the clinic, Jamie enjoys spending time with her husband, Patrick, twin boys, Cole and Carter, and daughter Claire. Jamie enjoys OU athletics, running, being outside, and overall health and fitness.

Sarah Burnett, PT, DPT Sarah Burnett, PT, DPT

Sarah was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma. In 2007 she graduated from Norman North High School where she was an All-State soccer player. She went on to play soccer at Oklahoma City University for three years and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with special distinction in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2013, where she graduated with outstanding distinction.

During physical therapy school, Sarah completed clinical rotations with Physical Therapy Central of Norman and the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department, which provided an excellent background in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. In her second year of physical therapy school, the faculty awarded her the Elam Plowman Scholarship for excellence in musculoskeletal physical therapy.

Sarah has been an active member of the APTA and OPTA since 2010. Her areas of interest include manual therapy, prevention and rehab of sports injuries, and post-op rehab. She was certified in trigger point dry needling in January 2014. She began an orthopedic residency program in January 2015 with Evidence in Motion and plans on becoming board certified in orthopedic physical therapy following the residency.

Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outside, playing and watching sports, going to the lake, and listening to Christmas music.

Kathryn Deaton Kathryn Deaton PT, DPT
Astym Certified

Kathryn was born into a military family and has moved every 18 months of her life until attending the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma for her undergraduate degree where she also worked for Physical Therapy Central as a physical therapy technician. Kathryn earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science with honors and special distinction in 2011. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2014, where she graduated as the student body association treasurer, a Crimson Club student Ambassador, the class of 2014 president, and the inaugural Elwood Scholar representing all Allied Health Graduate Colleges across the nation.

Kathryn has been an active member in APTA and OPTA since 2011 and was awarded the OPTA Honor and W. K. Scholarship in 2013. She is a member of the orthopedic section of APTA. Kathryn finished off her experience at the Health Science Center by obtaining the ASAHP Scholarship of Excellence, Health Care Employers Scholarship, and the Outstanding Senior Leadership Award in 2014.

Kathryn's areas of interest include orthopedic therapy, manual therapy, spinal dysfunction, prevention and rehab of sports injuries, and post-op orthopedics rehabilitation. She was certified in ASTYM manual therapy in November 2014. She plans on becoming board certified in orthopedic physical therapy following residency in the future.

Kathryn enjoys spending time outside, being with her friends, family, husband, and two dogs, playing music, baking/cooking, playing/watching sports, and traveling.
