Our Staff: Midtown OKC Clinic
The physical therapists at Physical Therapy Central all have advanced physical therapy degrees at either the Master's or Doctorate level. This allows the therapists to provide efficient and effective treatment outcomes for the patients. Each member of the staff completes a minimum of 40 continuing education hours per year to stay at the top of their field.
Jamie Wyrick, PT, MPT, OCS
Board Certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
Jamie was born and raised in Elkhart, Kansas where she attended high school and was a multiple time All-State athlete in volleyball and basketball. She went on to play division I college basketball at the University of Oklahoma where she helped the 2002 team advance to the national championship game. Jamie graduated from OU with distinction in 2003 with her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She went on to earn her Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in 2007, where she graduated with outstanding distinction.
Jamie has been actively involved in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) since 2004 and is currently a member of the women's health, orthopedic and sports physical therapy sections of the APTA. Jamie is an APTA credentialed clinical instructor and loves working with students. Jamie joined Physical Therapy Central in 2008, and in 2009 she became co-owner of the Oklahoma City clinic with her friend and former classmate, Jennifer Edwards.
Jamie's areas of interest include post-op orthopedics rehabilitation, prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries, spinal dysfunction, women's health, and manual therapy. Jamie has completed several orthopedic and manual therapy based continuing education courses. She has also completed APTA's Level One Pre-and Postpartum Physical Therapy coursework and is working towards the Section on Women's Health CAPP certification. In 2010, Jamie became Board Certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and plans to begin her manual therapy fellowship with Evidence in Motion in July.
Jamie lives in Moore, OK and enjoys spending time with her husband Patrick, and her twin boys, Cole and Carter. Jamie enjoys OU athletics, running, being outside, and overall health and fitness.
Shawn Houck, PT, MPT
Shawn is from Wichita Falls, Texas and he attended Burkburnett High School where he graduated in 2004. He graduated with distinction from the University of Oklahoma in 2008 with his Bachelor of Science in Health Studies. Shawn received his Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in May of 2010.
During physical therapy school, Shawn completed clinical internships with Physical Therapy Central of Newcastle, Physical Therapy Central of Oklahoma City, and Ben Hogan Sports Therapy Institute in Ft. Worth, TX. These experiences provided an excellent background in orthopedics and allowed him to work with patients with a wide variety of diagnoses and explore several treatment methods. In his final year of physical therapy school, the faculty awarded him the 2009-2010 OUHSC Dean's Award for Clinical Excellence.
Shawn has been actively involved in APTA and OPTA since 2009, and is a member of the APTA Sports Therapy Section. His areas of interest include manual therapy, evaluation/treatment of general orthopedic conditions, prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries, and spinal dysfunction. His future plans include beginning a sports physical therapy residency program with Evidence in Motion.
In his free time, Shawn enjoys spending time with his wife, Brittany, who is also a physical therapist, spending time with friends, and getting outside to play golf whenever he can.
Sarah Burnett, PT, DPT
Sarah was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma. In 2007 she graduated from Norman North High School where she was an All-State soccer player. She went on to play soccer at Oklahoma City University for three years and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with special distinction in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2013, where she graduated with outstanding distinction.
During physical therapy school, Sarah completed clinical rotations with Physical Therapy Central of Norman and the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department, which provided an excellent background in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. In her second year of physical therapy school, the faculty awarded her the Elam Plowman Scholarship for excellence in musculoskeletal physical therapy.
Sarah has been an active member of the APTA and OPTA since 2010. Her areas of interest include manual therapy, prevention and rehab of sports injuries, and post-op rehab. Her future plans include beginning an orthopedic residency program with Evidence in Motion.
Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outside, playing and watching sports, going to the lake, and listening to Christmas music.
